Wiltshire – Part-Time Domestic Couple for Private Estate 4-Bedroom Cottage - Suitable for dependent

Family Description and Location

A British couple with one child, who live on a fully staffed private estate, are looking for a part-time Housekeeper and Handyman/Caretaker couple to join their established household team in an idyllic setting.

The estate is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Chippenham, a flourishing market town with all the usual shops and amenities.

Job Description

The Housekeeper role is approximately 26 hours per week and will include:

• General housekeeping and cleaning
• Ironing, folding and laundry
• Care of fine fabrics and delicates
• Cleaning and care of antiques and specialist surfaces
• Polishing of brass and silver
• Light family food preparation when required
• Nursery duties relating to the child’s rooms, laundry and belongings
• No childcare responsibilities

The Handyman/Caretaker role is approximately 40 hours per week and will include:

• General household and estate maintenance
• Key holding and security responsibilities
• General DIY and minor repairs
• Touch-up painting and decorating
• Picture hanging
• Changing lightbulbs
• Car washing
• Cleaning gutters
• Basic roof inspections
• Stonework and general exterior maintenance
• Assisting the gardeners when required
• Taking in deliveries and dealing with tradesmen and contractors
• General grounds and security duties

Candidate Requirements

You must enjoy working as a team and have good checkable references.

One of you will need to hold a full driving licence in order to get on and off the estate and for driving duties as and when required.

The Housekeeper should have experience caring for delicate antiques, fine fabrics and specialist surfaces.

The Handyman/Caretaker should be practical and confident carrying out general maintenance and security duties around a private estate.

A DBS check will be required.

Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary

• Monday to Friday
• The Handyman/Caretaker may occasionally be required to work on a Saturday and Sunday, with two days off during the week given in lieu
• Housekeeper: approximately 26 hours per week
• Handyman/Caretaker: approximately 40 hours per week
• Detached four-bedroom cottage provided
• All household bills are included apart from heating oil
• An annual heating oil allowance of £750 per person / £1,500 per couple is provided
• Accommodation is suitable for children and pets may be considered
• Housekeeper salary: approximately £20,686 gross per annum
• Handyman/Caretaker salary: approximately £31,824 gross per annum
• Combined gross salary: approximately £52,510 per annum
• The family are happy to wait for the right couple
