Job Description

The role will include:

  • Family laundry, ironing, folding and putting clothes away
  • Changing beds and managing household linen
  • Organising the children’s clothes, bedrooms and belongings
  • Preparing simple, healthy family meals and batch cooking
  • Keeping the kitchen and main family areas tidy and organised
  • Grocery shopping and household errands
  • Ensuring household supplies are stocked and replenished
  • General organisation and helping with the smooth running of the household
  • Feeding the family cat once or twice each day
  • Working alongside the family’s cleaner and ensuring household tasks are coordinated
  • Supporting Mum with the children when required
  • Playing with and supervising the two-year-old while Mum cares for the baby
  • Holding, settling or caring for the baby while Mum spends time with the toddler
  • Occasional sole-charge childcare once everyone is comfortable
  • Providing flexible and practical support as the family adjusts to life with a newborn

The family travels to Ireland approximately every two months and would ideally like someone who is happy to travel with them occasionally. Alternatively, they would welcome a candidate who is able, where possible, to coordinate some of their annual leave with the family’s travel. No immediate travel is anticipated following the arrival of the baby.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will be warm, reliable, discreet and proactive, with a genuine understanding of how to support a busy young family.

Previous private household experience is essential, together with good housekeeping and organisational skills.

The candidate should:

  • Have a minimum of 3–5 years’ experience working within a private household
  • Be confident and experienced around both toddlers and newborn babies
  • Enjoy cooking and be comfortable preparing simple, healthy family meals
  • Be organised and able to take ownership of household tasks without requiring constant direction
  • Be flexible and happy to move between housekeeping and childcare duties as required
  • Have excellent laundry, ironing and wardrobe-care skills
  • Be comfortable working alongside an existing cleaner
  • Be cat friendly
  • Be a non-smoker
  • Have excellent checkable references
  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Current paediatric first aid or basic life support training would be advantageous

An Enhanced DBS check will be required before employment.

  • Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.00pm.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • This is a live-out position.
  • Salary: £22–£25 per hour gross, depending on experience.
  • This equates to approximately £45,760–£52,000 gross per annum.
  • Start date: ideally mid-October to the beginning of November 2026.
