Job Description
The role will include:
- Carrying out general property maintenance, minor repairs and practical odd jobs
- Conducting regular walkthrough inspections of the properties and grounds
- Identifying maintenance issues and reporting or resolving them as appropriate
- Maintaining gardens and outdoor areas to a good standard
- Lawn mowing, edging, cutting back trees and plants and general garden clearance
- Carrying out basic swimming pool maintenance, including routine cleaning and chemical balancing
- Monitoring property maintenance requirements and helping to plan repairs and minor projects
- Obtaining comparative quotes from local tradespeople and contractors
- Coordinating and supervising external contractors attending the properties
- Acting as the main on-site contact for contractors where required
- Managing basic maintenance budgets and ensuring expenditure is sensible and cost-effective
- Keeping track of equipment, tools and machinery across the different properties
- Ensuring tools and equipment are used safely and maintained appropriately
- Prioritising tasks independently and managing time efficiently across multiple sites
- Providing clear updates regarding maintenance issues, proposed solutions, costs and timescales
There is machinery and equipment available at many of the properties. Where additional equipment needs to be transported between sites, reasonable transport costs will be covered.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience in gardening, grounds maintenance or general property maintenance
- A practical and hands-on approach
- Good general maintenance and DIY skills
- Basic knowledge of swimming pool maintenance
- Experience managing minor property projects and maintenance schedules
- Experience obtaining quotes and coordinating external tradespeople
- Good knowledge of health and safety relating to tools, machinery and chemicals
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to assess priorities and work independently without constant supervision
- Strong common sense and a proactive approach
- Good communication skills
- A full UK driving licence
- A reliable and trustworthy nature
Experience working across several properties or sites would be advantageous.
Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary
Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.00pm.
The role requires some flexibility, as individual days may occasionally be slightly longer or shorter depending on the requirements of the properties and workload. The successful candidate should therefore be comfortable managing their own diary and working pattern responsibly.
Company vehicles are available at some sites when required.
For travel between properties during working hours, the employee may also use public transport, Uber or other suitable transport. All reasonable travel and driving expenses incurred during working hours will be reimbursed by the employer.
Salary: Up to £30,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.
