Vacancy Description

Family Description & Location

A relaxed and informal Australian/American family based in Kensington are seeking a dynamic and health-focused Private Chef to support their day-to-day catering. The family have two older children aged 18 and 15 and a friendly Labradoodle. They lead an international lifestyle but are primarily London-based.

Job Description

  • This is a part-time role focused on breakfast and lunch, with a strong emphasis on tailored, health-conscious cooking and forward planning.
  • The Chef will prepare individual breakfasts based on each family member’s preferences and timings, rather than large spreads. This includes smoothies, juices, acai bowls, omelettes, avocado toast, smoked salmon, breakfast burritos and occasional pastries. Creativity and confidence in nutrition-led cooking is essential.
  • Lunches should be fresh, varied, and interesting, drawing on a broad range of cuisines including fusion, Asian and Mediterranean influences. The family enjoy Ottolenghi-style dishes, vibrant salads, and flavour-led, well-balanced meals.
  • A key part of the role is batch cooking and ensuring the fridge is well stocked on non-working days. This includes preparing high-protein, low-calorie meals, snacks, and ready-to-eat dishes tailored to individual preferences and nutritional goals.
  • The Chef will take responsibility for menu planning, managing Ocado orders, keeping the kitchen organised and fully stocked, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
  • There will be occasional entertaining (approximately once per month), where the Chef will prepare and serve an evening meal.

Candidate Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced Private Chef with a strong background in health-focused, modern cooking and an interest in nutrition.
  • You should be confident preparing a wide variety of dishes and adapting to individual tastes, with the ability to plan ahead and work independently. A proactive and organised approach is essential, along with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in private households is preferred, and a calm, discreet, and flexible manner is important. You should be comfortable working in a family home with older children and a dog.
  • Candidates will be required to submit examples of menu plans and/or photographs of their food as part of their application to demonstrate style, presentation, and range.
