Housekeeper

Vacancy Description

Family Description & Location:

A warm and professional family of five based in Richmond are seeking an experienced, proactive and discreet part-time Housekeeper to support the smooth running of their modern detached home. This is a long-term opportunity for a capable and self-sufficient candidate who enjoys working in a private household environment and takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards.

The family consists of two working professional parents and three school-aged children. The household is informal but very private, and discretion is essential at all times. Mum often works from home, so the successful candidate must be warm and supportive while remaining unobtrusive and respectful of personal space.
The property is a modern, easy-to-maintain five-bedroom detached house arranged over four levels in Richmond, West London, just a short walk from Richmond mainline and Underground services. There are two outdoor cats.

The household is supported by a part-time cleaner who attends on Mondays and a part-time nanny who attends on weekdays. Some laundry (including bed linen and dry cleaning) is sent out. This role complements the existing support already in place and requires someone who can take ownership of the home on the days they are present.

Job Description:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Full hands-on housekeeping: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, kitchen and making beds
  • Daily laundry: washing, folding, ironing and careful garment care
  • Wardrobe management: organising by season, returning items to correct rooms and monitoring condition
  • Tidying and organisation throughout the home
  • Maintaining excellent hygiene standards at all times
  • Organisation of the children’s bedrooms and shared areas
  • Ad hoc family cooking when required
  • Occasional light childcare cover if required

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience within a private household (HNW experience preferred)
  • Fully fluent English
  • Respectful of privacy, boundaries and discretion
  • Calm, kind, patient and professional manner
  • Highly organised with strong time-management skills
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent laundry and wardrobe management skills
  • Confident home cook
  • Child and pet friendly
  • Excellent, checkable references

Days of Work & Salary:

  • Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
  • Hours: 4 hours per day
  • Weekdays: 4 hours per day, starting no earlier than 8:30am and finishing by 6:00pm (exact schedule to be agreed).
  • Saturday: 4 hours in the morning, starting at 9:00am.
  • Start: Immediate, though the family will wait for the right candidate
  • Salary: £23–£25 per hour
  • Status: Self-employed
  • This role is offered on a self-employed basis with an initial trial period. The family are seeking a long-term arrangement with the right candidate.
