Family Description and Location

A fabulous opportunity for an experienced Domestic Couple to work for a HNW British family in their beautifully renovated Mayfair residence.

The property has been finished to an exceptionally high standard and requires a professional, proactive couple who are confident running a prestigious private home.

The family have older children and travel with a nanny, therefore there is no formal childcare involved in the role. However, the successful couple must be child friendly and comfortable working within a family environment.

The London residence can be extremely busy when the Principals are in residence, with quieter periods when they are staying at their other homes in the UK or overseas. The Principals may be away from the London property for up to six months of the year.

There is a Private PA who will liaise closely with the couple regarding the family diary, guests, entertaining and household arrangements.

Job Description

The couple will work together to ensure the smooth day-to-day running, presentation and security of the Mayfair residence.

Responsibilities will include:

• High-standard housekeeping throughout the property
• Care of specialist surfaces, furnishings and high-value interiors
• Laundry and ironing, including the care of designer clothing
• Changing and preparing bed linen and household linen
• Preparing the Principals' bedroom suite and guest rooms
• Household shopping, errands and stock control
• Greeting guests and providing a professional front-of-house presence
• Driving when required
• Care and general upkeep of the household vehicles
• Overseeing general household maintenance and contractors
• Liaising with interior designers and specialist suppliers regarding the correct care of furnishings and finishes
• Understanding and operating the property's high-level security, audiovisual and household technology systems
• Preparing the house ahead of the family's arrival and closing it down appropriately when they leave

The family entertain and hold events at the property, so the couple will also be involved with event preparation, liaising with caterers and suppliers, setting up the house and providing front-of-house assistance.

There may occasionally be a requirement to travel with the family.

Good cooking skills would be a definite advantage, although the couple do not need to be professional chefs.

Candidate Requirements

It is essential that both candidates have a minimum of 3–5 years' experience working together as a Domestic Couple within a high-level private household, with excellent references.

Candidates should:

• Speak and write excellent English
• Be energetic, professional and well presented
• Be proactive and able to organise their own working day
• Be confident working with minimal supervision
• Have experience caring for high-quality furnishings and specialist surfaces
• Be comfortable dealing with guests, contractors and external suppliers
• Have strong household organisational skills
• Be technically confident or willing to learn the property's security, audiovisual and household systems
• Be flexible regarding working hours when the Principals are in residence
• Be child friendly and comfortable working within a family household
• Be willing to travel occasionally if required
• Ideally have good family cooking skills
• Hold a full driving licence

Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary

• The contracted working week is Monday to Friday, approximately 50 hours per week when the Principals are not in residence.
• The family may be away from the London residence for significant periods, potentially for up to six months of the year. During these quieter periods, the couple will maintain and look after the property while enjoying a more regular Monday-to-Friday working pattern.
• When the Principals are in residence, greater flexibility will be required. The couple may be asked to work additional hours, evenings and weekends depending on the family's diary, entertaining and household requirements.
• Additional days worked and overtime during busy periods will be balanced with days off and time off in lieu during periods when the Principals are away from the residence.
• The position comes with a beautiful, newly refurbished, self-contained flat with its own separate entrance and private courtyard.
• A car is provided for work-related duties together with a dedicated parking space.
• The salary is £80,000++ gross per annum combined, negotiable for the right couple depending on experience.
