Live-out Houseman / Cook – Kensington W8 – £50,000–£60,000 Gross per Annum

A large private household based in Kensington, W8, is looking for a professional, reliable and proactive Houseman / Cook to join their existing household team.

The successful candidate will work alongside the family’s full-time Housekeeper and should be someone who is comfortable combining cooking, housekeeping, household support and general Houseman duties.

This is a new position within an appreciative family household and they are looking for someone who will become a reliable, long-term member of their household team.

The family travels internationally and the successful candidate will need to be flexible to accompany them for approximately three to four weeks during the summer months.

The position is available to start as soon as the ideal candidate has been found.

Job Description

This is a varied all-round position combining cooking, general housekeeping, household maintenance and support to the existing full-time Housekeeper.

Cooking will form an important part of the role, with a focus on healthy Mediterranean-style food. Experience preparing European cuisine, particularly Spanish, Italian or Portuguese food, would be highly desirable.

The candidate will generally prepare lunch and, on occasion, dinner for the family.

Duties will include:

• Preparing healthy Mediterranean-style lunches and occasional dinners
• Menu planning and assisting with food shopping and kitchen organisation
• General housekeeping and cleaning
• Working alongside and supporting the full-time Housekeeper
• Assisting with the day-to-day running of the household
• General household maintenance and practical Houseman duties
• Ensuring the property is well presented and maintained
• Assisting with household errands and requirements
• Driving as required
• Working collaboratively with other household staff
• Travelling internationally with the family for approximately three to four weeks during the summer

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate should have a proven background working within private households and be comfortable undertaking a broad, hands-on role.

Candidates should:

• Have 3–5 years’ private household experience
• Have previous experience as a Houseman / Cook or similar household all-rounder
• Be a confident and capable home cook
• Have experience preparing healthy Mediterranean and European-style cuisine
• Be comfortable undertaking housekeeping and practical household duties
• Be professional, discreet, reliable and proactive
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Be comfortable working alongside an existing full-time Housekeeper
• Work well as part of an established household team
• Be fluent in English
• Hold a valid UK driving licence
• Hold a valid UK or EU passport and have the right to work in the UK
• Be willing and able to travel internationally with the family
• Be flexible and happy to assist wherever required within the household

Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary

Monday to Friday.

General working hours will be approximately 8.00am–6.00pm.

This is a full-time, live-out position based in Kensington, W8.

The salary is negotiable according to experience and will be in the region of £50,000–£60,000 gross per annum.

The successful candidate will also be required to travel internationally with the family for approximately three to four weeks during the summer months, with appropriate accommodation provided while travelling.
