Family Description and Location:

A warm and welcoming family based in a village near Newbury and Reading are seeking a reliable and practical Live-in Part-time Gardener / Driver / Handyman to support the outdoor maintenance and general running of their country home.
A family of four, children nearly grown up and dogs. The household is relaxed and informal but operates to high standards. The family occasionally entertain, and assistance during these occasions will form part of the role.
This position would suit someone hands-on, organised, and comfortable working independently in a rural setting, who enjoys a varied role combining gardening, driving and practical household support.

Job Description:

Outdoor and Property Duties
• Gardening and grounds maintenance across approximately one acre of garden and a six-acre field
• Lawn mowing, strimming, pruning, weeding, watering and planting
• Greenhouse care and vegetable planting
• Pool maintenance including cleaning and chemical balancing
• General handyman duties and minor repairs
• Monitoring the property and reporting maintenance issues

Driving and General Support:

• Driving duties as required, including station runs and occasional collections (typically with notice, often Fridays or Saturdays)
• Supporting the household during busier periods and when entertaining
• Dog care including walking, feeding and general supervision when required
• House and pet-sitting when the family are away

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience in gardening, handyman or similar rural estate roles preferred
• Confident and capable driver with a clean driving licence
• Comfortable around dogs and animal-friendly
• Practical, reliable and self-motivated
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively
• Happy living in a rural village environment

Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary:

• Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week plus ad hoc overtime, flexible depending on household needs
• Accommodation: Private one-bedroom garden cottage with sitting/dining room, kitchen and bathroom
• Utilities, council tax and Wi-Fi included
• Salary: £21,000–£25,000 gross per annum (PAYE), dependent on experience
• Holiday: 4 weeks paid holiday per year
• Use of household vehicle provided for work-related duties
• Start Date: Asap but will wait for the right person.
