A warm and busy family living in Henfield, a lively village near Brighton in Sussex, are seeking a kind-hearted, animal-loving Nanny/Housekeeper. The family home is a spacious 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom house with multiple reception rooms, kitchen, and laundry area. They have a weekly cleaner to support deeper cleaning.
This is a pet-friendly household with five dogs (Labrador, Cocker Spaniel, Rescue Mix, two Cavapoos), goats, and sheep, so the candidate must be confident and happy working around animals.

Job Description: 

The primary responsibility is the care of a 2-year-old girl (including local nursery runs, as she attends part-time). Care of a 10-year-old child is also required when home from school (boarding 2–3 nights a week). Alongside childcare, the role involves ensuring the smooth running of the family home.
Key Duties:

  • Daily childcare for the toddler, supporting her routine and development
  • After-school care for the 10-year-old when home from boarding
  • Nursery runs and escorting to local activities (if required)
  • Light housekeeping including:
    • Laundry and wardrobe management (mainly children’s)
    • Bedroom tidying and bed-making
    • Dishwasher loading/unloading
    • Ensuring kitchen is clean after meals
  • Simple family cooking
  • Supporting household routines
  • Occasional family travel (if possible, preferred but not essential)

Driver not essential.

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Warm, caring, and helpful personality with a genuine love of children
  • Ideally with some knowledge of early years development
  • Must be animal-friendly and comfortable in a busy household
  • Valid work permit and able to commit long term
  • Flexible and adaptable with a proactive attitude
  • Ability to travel with the family preferred but not essential

Days of Work, Accommodation & Salary: 

  • Monday to Friday, approx. 8–10 hours per day with breaks (e.g. 7am–10am, 2pm–8pm)
  • Salary: £35,000–£40,000 gross per annum (with full contract, tax, and NI)
  • Accommodation: private self-contained annex with kitchen and full amenities
  • Occasional family travel, if possible
