What is a Domestic Couple?
Domestic Couples are employed for both Town and Country homes and estates, both in the UK and overseas. Domestic Couples are particularly essential in homes that are occupied only part of the time for security purposes, to make sure that the residence is always kept to a high standard and is well maintained.
We have requests for Domestic Couples from all types of households, from help for an informal home, to assistance in a fully staffed formal household, through to country estates, and even roles overseas. Some may even travel the world with their employer.
The roles are usually for a Housekeeper, Housekeeper Cook, or a Housekeeper Nanny, and the other half of the couple will be employed as a gardener, handyperson and or driver, and a lot of couple’s roles encompass all or a combination of these duties. Some Domestic Couples roles will require both to work inside the home where one person is the Housekeeper and the other Houseperson, and possibly Butler.
There are many benefits to employing a couple, including the fact that working together means that people may well stay longer and having their days off together gives greater flexibility with working days and hours.
Domestic Couples will usually require separate self contained accommodation, either a cottage or a flat and this is generally included in the remuneration package for the role.
Where and How do we Find a Domestic Couple?
We recruit our candidates, who come from all over the world, very carefully. All Domestic Couples are interviewed thoroughly, and must have at a minimum of at least three years’ experience, suitable references that can be checked, together with the knowledge of how to work in a house that is presented and run to the highest standards, whether you are a formal or informal household and regardless of where you are located.
