Live-In Housekeeper –  South Kensington | £55,000–£60,000 gross per annum

Family Description and Location

A family of four with two young children aged 2 and 4 is looking for an experienced Live-In Housekeeper to join their household in Kensington.

The family already employs a cleaner four times per week, so they are looking for someone who can take overall responsibility for the smooth running and presentation of the home, including housekeeping, laundry, ironing and simple family cooking.

The Housekeeper will have their own bedroom and private bathroom, situated side by side on their own floor, together with a fridge and small hob for personal use.

The family has no pets.

Job Description

The role will include:

• General housekeeping and maintaining the home to a high standard
• Laundry and ironing
• Following the household’s specific cleaning and hygiene routines
• Keeping the home organised, tidy and well presented
• Meeting and greeting guests
• Simple family cooking, particularly Mediterranean-style meals
• Preparing dishes such as steamed salmon, simple salads and roasts
• Chopping, food preparation and general kitchen support
• Occasional babysitting with prior notice

There is no regular childcare involved, although the successful candidate should be comfortable working in a family home with young children.

A simple uniform will be required while on duty.

Candidate Requirements

The family is looking for an experienced, professional and child-friendly Housekeeper with previous private household experience.

The successful candidate should:

• Have excellent housekeeping, laundry and ironing skills
• Be confident preparing simple, healthy family meals
• Be organised, discreet and reliable
• Be comfortable following established household routines and hygiene procedures
• Be happy working in a home with young children
• Have good personal presentation and a professional manner
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, an appropriate food hygiene certificate
• Be comfortable with the household’s health and safety requirements

The household is alcohol-free while the Housekeeper is on duty.

Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary

Monday to Friday

Hours: 7.00am–7.00pm, with a one-hour break each day

Approximately 55 working hours per week.

The Housekeeper is free to leave the property each weekend.

Accommodation: Own bedroom and private bathroom on a separate floor, with a fridge and small hob for personal use.

Salary: £55,000–£60,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.
