Faringdon, Oxfordshire – Daily Driving Afternoon Housekeeper/Nanny – 30 Hours/Week – £20–£25/hour

Family Description and Location

A friendly and appreciative British family living in Buckland, Oxfordshire, are looking for an experienced Daily Housekeeper/Nanny to join them on a long-term basis.

This is predominantly a housekeeping position during the earlier part of the afternoon, moving across to helping with the children from school collection onwards.

The family have four school-aged children, two girls aged 10 and 9 and two boys aged 7 and 4, along with two Whippets. The family are currently living in a farmhouse in Buckland which is near Faringdon.

The mother works predominantly from home and is very hands-on with the children. Her husband works away during the week, so she is looking for someone dependable who can work alongside her and help keep both the home and the children's increasingly busy schedules running smoothly.

Job Description

The role will involve maintaining the family home to a high standard and taking responsibility for the household laundry and general organisation.

Duties will include:

• General housekeeping and cleaning to a high standard
• Laundry and ironing
• Changing bed linen
• Putting laundry away neatly and keeping wardrobes organised
• Keeping the children's bedrooms and play areas tidy and organised
• Organising cupboards and household areas
• Emptying and loading the dishwasher
• Cleaning the fridge
• Silver cleaning when required
• Putting away the family's weekly grocery delivery
• Helping with kitchen preparation, including chopping and preparing ingredients
• Some simple batch cooking and children's meals
• Assisting with school collections from approximately 3.30pm
• Working alongside the mother to manage the children's afternoon schedules
• Driving the children to activities, including swimming
• Packing sports and school bags
• Preparing and serving the children's supper
• Occasional help with bath time
• Occasional sole charge of the children when the mother is unavailable
• One evening of babysitting per week by arrangement
• Additional hours may be available during the school holidays
• Occasional house and dog sitting may also be offered when the family are travelling

Candidate Requirements

• The family are looking for someone warm, capable and highly organised who enjoys working in a busy family household.
• You should be proactive, professional and switched on, with high housekeeping standards and excellent attention to detail. You will need to be comfortable working alongside a hands-on mother and able to confidently navigate the different schedules and needs of four school-aged children.
• A confident driver with a clean driving licence is essential, as school collections and driving to children's activities form an important part of the role.
• The ideal candidate will be firm but kind with the children, dependable, reliable and someone who naturally thrives on organisation and routine.
• Previous experience working as a Nanny/Housekeeper or Housekeeper within a private household is essential.
• Due to the location and daily driving involved, the family would ideally like someone living within approximately a 30-minute commute of Buckland.

Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary

• Monday to Friday, 12.00pm–6.00pm.
• 30 hours per week, with some flexibility and the possibility of additional hours during school holidays.
• One evening of babysitting per week will also be required by arrangement.
• This is a daily position and no accommodation is provided.
• Salary: £20–£25 gross per hour, depending on experience.
• Start date: ASAP, although the family are very happy to wait for the right person.
