The family live in a large six-bedroom home arranged over two floors, with four bedrooms used daily. The property has high ceilings, tall windows and spacious family living areas, so the role would suit someone physically fit, proactive and confident maintaining a larger private home to a consistently high standard. The house is easily accessible by public transport, with a bus stop directly outside on Highwood Hill. Mill Hill Broadway is approximately a 10-minute bus ride away and connects to the Thameslink, offering excellent links across London. Both parents work from home, and the family have three children aged 7, 12 and 15. Job Description
The family are looking for someone highly organised, trustworthy and committed to building a stable, long-term position.
Duties will include:
• Maintaining the home to a consistently high standard
• Daily housekeeping, cleaning and organisation across the home
• Dusting and cleaning areas with high ceilings and tall windows
• Confident use of appropriate household equipment, including telescopic ladders where required
• Cleaning tall windows and maintaining high-level areas where appropriate
• Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care, including sportswear, children’s clothing and delicate items
• Handwashing and caring for fine and delicate fabrics where required
• Changing bed linen and maintaining bathrooms
• Keeping household supplies well organised
• Taking in and organising deliveries
• Managing deliveries and overseeing tradespeople when required
• Preparing healthy family dinners from scratch, using fresh and organic ingredients where possible
• Following family recipes and instructions for simple, nutritious family cooking
• Tidying the kitchen and family areas after dinner
• Caring for specialist household items such as delicate clothing, furnishings or antiques where appropriate
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a busy family home
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have proven experience working in large private households and will understand the importance of maintaining high standards consistently over time. The successful candidate must be a confident self-starter, able to work alone, manage their own daily routine and use initiative without needing constant direction.
The family are particularly keen to find someone with:
• Strong private household experience
• Excellent references from previous employers
• A stable CV, ideally with long-term roles of 3–5 years or more
• Strong attention to detail and good initiative
• A proactive, energetic and hands-on approach
• Emotional maturity, discretion and reliability
• Experience working in larger homes with high standards
• Good spoken English and clear communication skills
• Good family cooking skills and confidence preparing healthy meals from scratch
• Excellent laundry skills, including confident ironing, wardrobe care, handwashing and the care of fine and delicate fabrics
• Confidence working independently and managing their own daily schedule
• A genuine desire for a long-term, stable role
• Availability for an immediate start, ideally
The family have previously experienced situations where candidates interviewed well but were unable to maintain the expected standard over time. They are therefore only looking to meet candidates who are genuinely capable of delivering consistent, high-quality housekeeping across all aspects of the role.
Days of Work and Salary
Monday to Friday, 9am–7pm.
Immediate start desirable.
Salary: £48,000–£52,000 gross per annum, negotiable depending on skill set, a successful trial and references.
