Surrey & Knightsbridge – Hands-On Domestic Couple for British Family Live-In – £80,000–£90,000 gross

A professional British family are seeking an experienced, polished and proactive Domestic Couple to take full responsibility for the smooth running, presentation and day-to-day management of their beautiful Surrey estate together with their significant London house in Knightsbridge.

The family’s principal residence is a substantial 9-bedroom country home in Surrey set within extensive grounds and maintained to an exceptional “6-star / show home” standard. Facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym facilities, and support from a permanent maintenance team, contract gardeners and specialist pool technicians.

In addition to the Surrey estate, the family also  a formal London house in Knightsbridge which must be maintained to the same impeccable standard. The successful couple will primarily be based in Surrey but will regularly travel between both residences, including occasional overnight stays in London, to ensure both properties are fully prepared and running seamlessly at all times. Both candidates need to be confident drivers.
The family are very private, professional and well travelled, spending approximately four months of the year travelling during school holidays. They are looking for a long-term couple who can integrate well into an established household environment whilst also working independently.
 
Job Description
 
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to an experienced domestic couple who are confident managing high-end private homes to exceptionally high standards.

Duties will include:

• Full hands-on housekeeping and detailed cleaning across both properties 
• Laundry, ironing, wardrobe care and care of delicate fabrics and specialist surfaces 
• Family cooking on a daily basis, including healthy fresh meals and occasional informal entertaining 
• Butler-style service and assisting with occasional dinner parties and guests 
• Maintaining both homes to immaculate presentation standards at all times 
• Household organisation, stock control and proactive property management 
• Liaising with contractors, maintenance companies and tradespeople 
• Obtaining quotes and overseeing household and building projects 
• Coordinating with other household staff and external service providers 
• Chauffeuring duties including school runs, airport runs, shopping and errands 
• Vehicle care including cleaning, refuelling and general security checks 
• Packing and unpacking for travel 
• Flower arranging and household presentation 
• Assisting with household administration, maintenance schedules and record keeping 
• Overseeing and maintaining the London house during periods when the family are not in residence 
• Deep cleaning, preparing guest areas and ensuring both homes are always fully ready for occupancy 
• Occasional overnight stays in Knightsbridge within the staff accommodation when required 
• Assisting with general outdoor tidiness and presentation (grounds maintained separately by contractors) 

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience working within UHNW or fully staffed private households 
• Previous experience working successfully as a domestic couple 
• Excellent housekeeping and laundry standards 
• Strong cooking ability with confident family-style cooking 
• Butler/service skills and confident entertaining support 
• Highly organised, proactive and discreet 
• Able to manage properties independently and anticipate requirements 
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
• Both confident drivers essential 
• Computer literate with confidence managing household records and schedules 
• Flexible regarding travel between residences and overnight stays 
• Ex-yacht or hospitality couples with transferable experience will also be considered 
• Strong checkable references essential 

Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary

• Monday–Friday generally working between 8:30am–6:00pm, although frequently Saturdays also during term times with flexibility required 
• Additional flexibility required for occasional entertaining, overnight stays in London and weekend support when the family are in residence 
• Time off in lieu provided where appropriate 
• Holidays generally taken during school holiday periods when the family travel 
• Excellent live-in accommodation provided in Surrey consisting of a separate 2–3-bedroom lodge with private garden and terrace (all bills included) 
• Salary: £80,000–£90,000 gross combined salary package depending on experience and references 
• Immediate start possible, although the family can wait until September 2026 for the right couple
