This is a wonderful opportunity for the right couple.  A retired British couple would like help and support to enable them to enjoy their lives fully as the challenges that come with senior years present themselves. The family home is surrounded by 600 acres of managed farmland which have been in the family for generations. It is in the prettiest part of Essex, on the outskirts of the village of Radwinter.  The nearest town is Saffron Walden, Stansted airport is 30 minutes away and it is an hour and a half from Central London.  The family have four grown up children and eight grandchildren who are regular visitors at weekends and holidays.  The couple are in excellent health but the gentleman has mobility issues from a historic accident and is predominantly in a wheelchair.  They like to entertain regularly but mainly small lunches. 

Job description:

Outside, the job can include:
 
  • Mowing the lawns, general gardening and pruning etc Maintenance of garden machinery keeping environs of house tidy and in good order.
  • Maintenance of pool and tennis court.
  • There are areas of the landscape round the house which are not farmed which require maintenance from time to time.
  • General help in running things smoothly
The extent of the outside duties can be adjusted so as to match the suitability and aspirations of the particular applicant

Duties inside the house for the other part of the role:

Basically 3 hours a day which could be expanded as an element of carer companion and having another person in the house could be required.
To include: 

  • General housekeeping and cleaning
  • Laundry and ironing,
  • Occasional errands
  • Help after entertaining

Candidate requirements:
 
The family are looking for a kind loyal couple who can help keep their happy home in good order as they move into a gentler pace of life. Some respite for one of the principles and friendly company for the other when required is important.  Flexibility and ability to adapt is the key to the job.  You will need to become part of the family.  This isn’t a formal household.
Both candidates need full driving licences and good check able references.
 

  • Monday to Friday.  Any extra time to be discussed and remunerated pro rata.
  • 40 hour week for the outside role
  • 15 hour week for the inside role
  • £50,750 as a combined salary with a full contract and TAX and NI Paid
  • Self-contained 3-bedroom bungalow with own garden away from main house including all bills.
  • Pets will be considered.
  • Family and visitors welcome but job not compatible with young dependants
  • 1st September or 1st October Start to be discussed
