Job Description:
This is a gentle, supportive role focused on both light household help and companionship. Tasks include:
- Bringing a morning cup of tea and offering friendly company throughout the day
- Preparing simple, light meals (generally just in the evening)
- Feeding the two outdoor cats
- Accompanying on short walks 2–3 times per week
- Planning and attending small outings (e.g. cinema, gallery, café, or medical appointments)
- Helping with online tasks or light household admin
- Running errands and small local shopping trips
- Keeping the home tidy, assisting with laundry and the occasional bit of ironing (daily cleaner also employed)
The companion is not expected to take on heavy cleaning duties but should help keep the home running smoothly and be a calm, reliable presence.
Candidate Requirements:
We’re looking for someone naturally warm, cheerful and patient — a good listener, sensitive to others’ needs, and happy to offer companionship as well as practical help.
Ideal candidates will be:
- Organised, self-managing, discreet and trustworthy
- Able to offer flexibility (some days may be busier than others)
- Comfortable around cats
- Happy with varied duties and light physical activity such as short walks
- Able to prepare a reasonable range of simple meals
Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, with some flexibility (occasional weekend support may be needed with notice – time off in lieu or overtime offered). (Willingness to prepare dinner on Saturday and/or Sunday evenings a bonus.)
- Estimated Hours: One hour in the evening (e.g. 6.15-7.15), 20 mins in the morning, plus around 3–4 hours of errands/support each weekday; approx. 3 x short walks weekly and one larger outing
- Accommodation: Quiet, recently decorated top-floor space with a double bedroom, private shower room, good internet, TV, drawers and clothes rail
