Live in Part time Couple or Full time Houseman self-contained flat – £32K-35K

Family Description and Location:

A British couple in their mid-60’s are looking for a country loving Part time Couple or Full time Houseman to come and join them on their beautiful National Trust Home. The family live in a rural location not far from Banbury. They have 2 dogs that live with them in the house (and full-time gardeners and a team that deal with the gardens and looking after the public. ) They also have a part time cleaner twice a week that does the bedrooms and bathrooms plus some laundry and ironing. This role is purely to come and look after the house and family personally,  and is to replace their current houseman who is leaving after some time.  
 
Job Description: 

• General organisation in the house (part time cleaner twice a week)
• Some laundry (large sheets are done outside the property and the housekeeper irons)
• Emptying the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen organised
• Organising the bins and the recycling
• Feed, walking and organising the dogs 
• Some garden maintenance for the principals garden not the estate garden
• Basic DIY and handman duties such as diy repairs, painting and changing lightbulbs
• General security around the estate including dealing with alarms
• Dealing with a Biomass boiler (training will be given)
• Opening and closing the house each morning/evening – shutters etc
• Meeting and greeting occasional guests (possible station runs etc)
• Cleaning ground floor rooms plus brass and silver as needed
• Help with entertaining and occasional help with cooking required.
• shopping for the family when required and general errands
• Dealing with deliveries  

Candidate Requirements:

It is essential that you have worked in a private house or estate for a family in a private domestic setting and also really enjoy rural country life.  You must also be a dog lover with a clean driving licence. There are occasional shoots (c6 Saturdays a year) on the estate and help required with teas, coffee and clear up .
If a couple, this would suit someone that had other pursuits, worked from home or had a part time job in the local Banbury area.
 
Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary:

• This is a live in role but there must be flexibility in terms of days off in lieu when the client isn’t there as there will be dog care and security needs when the principle travels. 
• The accommodation is a self-contained 1-bedroom (large bedroom) flat on the second floor of the main house with own kitchen and large sitting room with good wifi, plus occasional usage of another bedroom for guests.
• Pets will be considered and welcomed if they get on with our dogs. Bitches preferred.
• essentially 40 hour week but when the principles are away the hours are reduced , and additional hours when the principals are at home and entertaining. Its swings and roundabouts with flexibility.  Winter weekends are busy with table laying and dinners to help with . 
• If you are a couple you would be both work roughly 20 hours per week or a single houseman would work the equivalent of 40 hour week but not necessarily in one shift per day.
• £32-35K gross with tax and NI and Nest pension paid. (please note that this is the salary for either a single or couple and you are free to take up other employment if you are a part time couple.) 
• End of June Start, with possible hand over a few days before end of June.
