Family Description and Location:
A British family are seeking a capable and professional domestic couple to support their substantial private estate in the Isle of Man, an area well known for its high standard of living, safety, and outstanding natural beauty.
A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced, hands-on Housekeeper/Cook/Maintenance Couple to join a large private country estate on a long-term basis. The role supports a growing household and involves working alongside existing staff to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of both the interior and exterior of the property.
The estate is the family’s full-time residence and comprises a 17,000 sq ft main house set within approximately 22 acres of land, including formal gardens, tennis courts, paddocks and fields.
The household includes children of mixed ages and family dogs. The home is busy, friendly and informal in atmosphere, while maintaining very high presentation standards.
There is an established team in place, including full-time gardeners and an experienced housekeeper. The new couple will work collaboratively with existing staff to support the evolving needs of the household.
Job Description:
• Day-to-day running and presentation of the main residence to a high standard
• Hands-on housekeeping throughout the property
• Laundry and full wardrobe management
• Preparation and presentation of guest bedrooms
• Restocking household supplies and cleaning products
• Household shopping, errands and general provisioning
• Cooking fresh, family-style meals when required
• Meal preparation and advance prep as needed
• Table laying and service when entertaining
• Meeting and greeting guests as and when required
• Assisting with drinks and light service for entertaining
• Working closely with the existing housekeeper and management staff
• Occasional babysitting by prior arrangement
• General property maintenance and basic DIY
• Care and maintenance of vehicles
• Driving duties as required, including occasional school runs
• House and dog sitting when required
• Daily pet care including feeding, grooming and walking
• Ensuring the estate is safe, tidy and well maintained at all times
Candidate Requirements:
• You must be an experienced domestic couple who have previously worked together in a similar role
• Strong cooking, housekeeping and service and maintenance skills are essential
• At least one of you must hold a full clean driving licence
• Confident working within a team environment
• Organised, proactive and able to manage your workload independently
• Discreet, flexible and child-friendly in approach
• Comfortable living and working in a rural estate setting
• A full set of excellent, checkable references is required
Days of Work, Accommodation and Salary:
• Live-in position with a private two-bedroom apartment on the estate
• Accommodation provided with bills included
• A pet may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Salary £80,000 gross per annum (combined), dependent on experience, references and skill set
• Five-day working week, averaging 40–50 hours per week
• Time off in lieu provided during busier periods
• Two consecutive days off, typically Tuesday and Wednesday
• Start date: March / April 2026 (flexible for the right couple)
